1-# The Maven
1+# Range
2+The **range** of a skill or effect is the maximum [[Distance]] it can influence anything from its point of origin.
23
3-> For an eternity, the darkness swelled within a ceaseless churn of its feeding, and then... silence. Such silence is deafening to those who listen for it. The abyss cast its gaze upon its source. The first lurching movement of boundaries drawn long before the dawn. A claimant has arrived. You may know who. You wish to know why.
4+## Mechanics
5+[[Melee]] attacks have a relatively short range determined by adding weapon range to the radius of a character's hitbox (which is 2), though it can be greatly extended by utilizing certain passives and items. Maximum travel [[distance]] for projectiles is 120 units, although many projectiles in the game dissipate before reaching it, which limits their effective range.
46
5-> The Maven seeks new conflict. Bored, she is, with the realm she has given. She is not the only one. The silence is deafening to all.
7+Range of melee attacks can be improved by taking either of the [[Master of the Arena]] or [[Razor's Edge]] notables, socketing the [[Warlord's Reach]] jewel, or using [[Daresso's Salute]] amulet. Range bonuses provided by passive tree, jewels and non-weapon equipment are global, meaning they will apply to both weapons if dual-wielding. However, range bonuses on weapons, including corrupted implicits, crafted bonuses or ones on uniques like [[Wideswing]] or [[Atziri's Disfavour]] are local and will extend the range only for the weapon they are located on, with the notable exception of [[Prismatic Eclipse]], which offers a global bonus.
68
7-> The Envoy
9+### Dual Wielding
10+When dual-wielding weapons with different range, all attacks will use the lower value.

9-The Maven is an NPC and boss encountered within maps. Progressing the Maven's questline allows the player to unlock powerful atlas passive skills that enhance the rewards and fights of maps within the Atlas of Worlds.
12+### Attack Range and Area of Effect Radius
13+Attack skills that create an AoE anchored on your character, like [[Cleave]], [[Sweep]] or [[Ground Slam]] are completely unaffected by attack range, except for a few skills specifically basing their AoE radius on it, namely [[Cyclone]] and [[Vengeance]]. Radius of skills that create an area of effect on the point of impact, like [[Molten Strike]] or single target skills supported by [[Melee Splash Support]] is also unaffected by attack range, however it does allow you to attack from a greater distance, pushing the AoE further from you, potentially affecting more enemies.

13-### Maven's Crucible
18+- [[Varunastra]] (11 base).
1419
15-By slaying 3 map bosses in the Maven's presence, you'll earn an invitation to The Maven's Crucible where she will request that you defeat these bosses simultaneously. Having demonstrated your strength, she challenges you to defeat four bosses, then five, then six and finally ten at the same time. Only then can you take on the new pinnacle boss of the Atlas: the Maven herself. The Atlas Quick Guide takes the player through all the steps required to find The Maven and to unlock The Maven's Crucible.
20+- [[Prismatic Eclipse]] with three white sockets (+6).
1621
17-To know if the map is eligible to have Maven's presence, you can check if her symbol is highlighted before activating your map device.
22+- [[Master of the Arena]] (+2), [[Blade Master]] (+1), [[Bladedancer]] wheel (+2), [[Claws of the Pride]] (+1), [[Flaying]] (+1), [[Bone Breaker]] (+2), [[Cleaving]] (+1), [[Tribal Fury]] wheel (+2), [[Brinkmanship]] (+2), and [[Splitting Strikes]] (+1).
1823
19-Maven will boost the boss in one of the following ways:
24+- Elder-influenced Gloves with the +4 elevated melee strike range modifier, [[Warlord's Reach]] (+1), [[Replica Pure Talent]] (+2), and [[Daresso's Salute]] (+2).

29-- Cast an orb that chases the player and explodes, dealing lightning damage
26+Total: 11 + 6 + (2 x 5 + 1 x 5) + (4 + 1 + 2 + 2) = 41.

31-### Maven boss
32-Players can fight The Maven by collecting [[Crescent Splinters]] from fights within The Maven's Crucible and combining them to form [[The Maven's Writ]]. Using the Maven's Writ with the map device will allow the player to fight the Maven. Defeating the Maven for the first time will reward the player with two passive points for The Uncharted Realms. Additionally, she will drop exclusive unique items as listed below, as well as the [[Maven's Orb]] and [[Elevated Sextant]]. Usually the latter two worth way more than the unique items.
28+Using a level 21+ [[Frost Blades]] adds another 22 units for a total of 63.
