Mechanics

When an attack made with Mjölner hits an enemy, socketed lightning spells will be cast without costing mana, similar to a trigger gem. The cooldown of this triggering effect is 150ms.

Multiple socketed lightning spells will trigger sequentially, starting with the socket on the top left. The order of the triggered spells is preserved even if a previous spell is already off cooldown. Multiple copies of the same spell share a cooldown. NOTE! This applies on multiple copies of the same spell when dual-wielding, even if they are in different Mjolners.

Dual wielding: While dual wielding, socketed lightning spells will only cast when a hit is made with the Mjölner they are socketed in.

Maximizing DPS: If only one Mjölner is being worn an attack rate of 6.67 attacks per second is optimal to maximize triggers. For non-crit builds Resolute Technique can be allocated if a sufficient accuracy rating cannot be easily reached.

Achieving a high DPS with Mjolner is hard, since the triggered spell can only be supported by 2 support gems. Consider using other sources of more damage, or going crit to amplify your damage output.

Version history

Version	Changes
3.17.0	Cooldown on triggering socketed spells increased to 0.25 seconds (previously 0.15 seconds). This change affects existing items.
3.15.0	No longer has 100% Increased Spell Damage if Triggered. Now grants 80-100% increased Lightning Damage instead of 30-40% increased Lightning Damage with Attack Skills. These changes affect all versions of this item, though you will need to use a Divine Orb to obtain the new values. Socketed Lightning Spells triggered by Mjölner now have a 0% Cost and Reservation Multiplier (they have no cost!).
3.5.0	Trigger now has a cooldown of 150ms (down from 250ms). This affects all versions.
2.6.0	Now has the additional property Socketed Lightning Spells have 100% Increased Spell Damage if Triggered. This affects existing versions of the item. Base type implicit mod changed to 15% reduced Enemy Stun Threshold (previously 40% increased Stun Duration on Enemies). Base type damage increased to 54-101 (up from 42-77).
2.5.0	Cospri's Malice and Mjölner now have 250ms cooldowns on triggering socketed skills (up from 100ms).
2.4.0	For Cast on Critical Strike, Cast on Melee Kill, Mjölner and Cospri's Malice, only one skill can be triggered per trigger event. Its chance to cast socketed lightning skills on hit has been increased from 30% to 100%. Use a Divine Orb if you want your legacy one to change.
2.0.3	(In Development Manifesto) All rare and super-rare Unique items now drop four times as often as they previously did. Yes, this means that four times as many Mjölners or Shavronne's Wrappings will now drop.
2.0.2	Added 3D art for Mjölner.
