# Lifetap Support
[[Lifetap Support]] is a [[support]] gem. It causes linked skills to be paid using life instead of mana, similar to the [[Blood Magic]] keystone, but at the expense of a very high skill cost multiplier. Spending a certain amount of life gives the Lifetap buff, which causes skills supported by Lifetap to deal more damage.

## Skill functions and interactions
The mana cost of any skill supported by this gem will be paid with life instead of mana.

The mana cost will still be calculated normally– <span class="text-mod">reduced Mana Cost</span>, reduced Total Cost and other similar modifiers will still apply, but the resulting cost will be paid with life.

Supporting [[minion]] skills with Lifetap Support will affect both the cost you pay to use the skill, and the cost the resulting minion uses to pay its own skills, if any. This can help certain spectres use their skills more often.

Skill supported by Lifetap gains a buff [[Lifetap]] status icon.pngLifetap when spending a total of # life as skill cost (The value depends on gem level). The buff Lifetap *grants 20% increased Life Recovery from Flasks*, as well as making the supported active skill deals more damage (from the gem mod <span class="text-mod">Supported Skills deal #% more Damage while you have Lifetap</span>). As of version 3.14, the buff is only granted from this support gem. Similar to [[Arcane Surge Support]], player may instead choose to use a low level Lifetap Support gem to gain the buff and more damage more often, in exchange for a lower more damage multiplier.

Lifetap Support does not affect mana reservation; Reservation are affected by sister gem [[Arrogance Support]].
