You're one of them, aren't you? An Exile? What strange odds to meet you here and now. I am Eagon, and I am undertaking an immensely important mission - and perhaps you can be of some use.
See this tear? It is a gateway of sorts... to different realities within the Atlas. You may be wondering how I know all this... of course, a commonborn such as yourself wouldn't understand!
The Originator of these realities left breadcrumbs. A trail. A thread of physical manifestations of the person's memories. They seem to be experimenting with the Atlas in a profound way. Entangling themself within the very fabric of what the Atlas is made of... and there, I believe they are trapped.
With my brain and your brawn, perhaps we can find answers to these questions. I'm sure there'll be something in it for you, to make it worth your while. What do you say? — Introduction |
This tear – and others like them – give us a glimpse into what this other plane of reality is composed of. Their compositions took me quite some time to deconstruct, but working backward from its final structure, I was able to reinterpret them using the superposition of the memories' resonances and offsetting that entanglement from the Atlas itself...
Hmm... have I lost you? It is merely the nature of reality we are discussing here!
Put plainly, in finding these tears, we can access the memories within them. There, we can chase down the one creating them. The Originator.
Unfortunately, the Atlas seems to have some unstable effects on the... {presentation} of these memories... but I hope that we can reach the Originator and save... her – well, more on that later. — Zana's Memories |
Go on, Exile - approach the tear. — EagonWildApproachTear |
What are you doing? Approach the tear! — EagonAnnoyedApproachGossip |
We have done it! We have her location! There seems to be a safe haven within her web of threads. How remarkable!
Finally... I have a chance to properly talk with Zana and get the answers I deserve. Let us make our way there at once.

It is done. — EagonUnlockFirstTearWild |
I have the thread coordinates. You will need to visit each location along the thread, to gain access to the subsequent ones.
You have access to a map device, yes? Good. Let us meet there and I shall reveal the location of the first memory. — Thread Coordinates |
Do not dally! — EagonWildDoNotDally |
Quite the establishment you've got here! Kirac looks much older in person... I must say, I don't really care for his demeanour. Rather grumpy and sour. Rather... dull.
In any case, shall we utilise these coordinates? — Kirac |
She... knew me? But how? I am... bewildered to say the least.
We must not stop. It is not clear whether she is fully aware of what is happening. She may be confused.
We must explore more threads and find her once again. — Zana |
I cannot begin to fathom what she was talking about. It is... deeply troubling. This is the closest I've ever been to my family, and yet... I feel immensely distant.
We must press on. I must have answers. We must find another tear! — Zana |
She said... she is not my sister? Then... who am I? None of this makes any sense. My life continues to be an unsolved mystery.
But I must move forward. I must... aspire. We should continue our work. There must be a way to appeal to Zana to prevent her unravelling herself beyond redemption.
If we continue to disrupt these memories, perhaps we can prevent her from destroying herself.
Atlas be damned! We must save Zana! — Saving Zana |
My sweet sister... though I've not been able to communicate with her, I've read everything I could get my hands on that she has written... I feel a connection to her.
I do feel some semblance of jealousy that she had time with our father, yes. I also feel guilty that I wasn't there for her when she needed me. That is something I hope to make right.
And perhaps, if I am lucky, Zana may have answers to some of my most burning questions... — My Sister |
It was not a... traditional upbringing. I wanted for nothing... except knowing who I truly was. The family I was placed with treated me less like a child and more like a patron. Disgusting, really.
Sometimes I'd wish to learn a lesson the hard way. Sometimes I'd wish to be told no... or even to receive a light beating. But these are inconsequential complaints.
Had I known I was the bastard son of the {magnificent} Valdo Caeserius, perhaps I would have felt differently. Everyone has some sort of confusing path to navigate and this was mine.
Here and now... I just wish to know why. Why did he cast me out? Why didn't he wish to know his only son? Perhaps these questions will haunt me all my mortal life. — My Father |
It took me years to fully unravel that I was a Caeserius. You may look at me and think, auburn hair, gifted, eloquent and well-dressed... how obvious!
But the person you see before you and the one that grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth are quite different people. Funnily enough, it was a maid that planted the seed in my mind. She would hum a tune as she changed the bed dressings in my room. One day, I asked her what it was she was humming. Without thinking, she laughed and said it was {'one of Valdo's favourites'}. There was no question in my mind who she was referring to. But why would this woman know such a man's favourite melodies? And why is she {now} taking care of me?
I probed further and she soon began to resemble a ripe tomato and bolted out the door. I pressed the family on this. I never saw the maid again and I was shunned from asking such questions. The relationship grew ever more sour after that. I knew this was a significant matter... but I didn't know the extent to which so many people had gone to keep me from knowing the truth. — The Realisation |
Yes, yes. It would of course mean a lot to know {why}... but I have scant reason to think of it now. The trajectory of my life changed the moment I knew, albeit vaguely, who I was.
The son of a notably brilliant mind! Bastard or not, I would live up to that truth. I would exceed my potential. Blast it, I would exceed his potential too! I became obsessed with his work. Who he was as a father mattered less to me - I expected I'd never know him that way. But I was determined to make the most of the brain I'd inherited.
In some ways, in spite of him. In other ways, because of him. — Exceeding Potential |
Well... without the support of Templar backing and father's innumerable donors, I am actually a self-made explorer of the Atlas. I would say I've done quite well for myself, wouldn't you? What I lack in sheer strength, I make up for with Caeserius wit and arrogance. If not for that, I don't think I'd have made it this far.
Sometimes we all must push ourselves beyond our limits, to get what we truly want... and what we truly deserve. — Pushing our Limits |
Once I had learned about my family's fate, I was determined to follow in their footsteps. To traverse realities. To navigate the Atlas.
I suppose initially I was driven by a desire to find them. But soon I was driven by a desire to better myself. To grow my capabilities.
Thankfully, I am more self-aware than my father. I saw the folly in his ways. Once I discovered the tears, once I glimpsed Zana within them... my attention was refocused. Everything is now about saving her. — Memory Tears |
I struggle to understand her. How can she believe this is the only way? What does it even mean... to destroy the Atlas?
The Atlas is but another interpretation of the reality we see. How can one exist without the other? I feel inept. She {must} know something I do not. For that reason, I am fearful.
Let me be on this topic. I must consider it further... — EagonOnZanasGoal |
You really must push on with this, yes? I believe I asked politely to not be questioned further on it! Look, I do not know what it means. But yes... Zana is indeed affecting the Atlas in a significant way.
Somehow, her memories are spilling over into the rest of the Atlas. I... I don't know how. I must think on it! — EagonOnEndOfAtlas |
How can I know the way forward if I don't know how or why these things are happening, you simpleton! Idiot! — EagonOnWayForward1 |
I'm... sorry. This is all quite stressful. I'm sure there is a logical explanation. Once I know what it is, you'll be the first to hear about it. — EagonOnWayForward2 |
Ugh, eldritch entities... I'd rather not start thinking about all that for the moment, if you don't mind. I've had a hard enough time contemplating what is happening with my family, let alone all that nonsense! — The Maven |
I know little of this foolish man. All I do know is that he once served Zana, but whoever that was is not who he has become. The Atlas has claimed many friends, and family... — Sirus, Awakener of Worlds |
Ah, yes... I have heard his ramblings in my travels within the Atlas. Not very scientific, to my ears. I find myself wondering if that being just enjoys hearing himself talk. — The Envoy |
It is... deeply troubling. For years, I believed her to be my sister. If she is not my sister, then Valdo is not my father. Yet... she said I mean 'much' to her.
I must have answers. I must... understand. — Seeking Answers |

I struggle to understand her. How can she believe this is the only way?
She has rearranged the very fabric of the Atlas. It's impressive, albeit... foreboding. But why? My ignorance leaves me fearful.
It is imperative that I understand the mechanisms by which she is shaping this reality. If we are fortunate, understanding {how} she is shaping it might illuminate {why}.
Zana believes she is doing the right thing... But her choices are putting us all in danger. Can she not see that? — Destroying the Atlas |
It's strange... when I returned, I found myself holding something. I've not seen anything like it, yet... I feel I know what must be done with it.
I believe this object can isolate Zana's thoughts. We must find what Zana was thinking when she fractured the Atlas. If we can focus on her methods of reshaping, this might be {exactly} what we need.
How such a fortuitous object ended up in my hand... Your guess is as good as mine. Take it. Venture into the Atlas once more. — Destroying the Atlas |
This is it. The embodiment of her residual thought. A veritable treasure trove of information... and yes, trinkets for you, I'm sure - don't you worry, my friend!
If my calculations are correct, we can travel into her thought now that you've dealt with the threats surrounding it. — Entering a Memory |
Interesting... we haven't shaped Zana's exact thoughts... rather, we've extracted what Zana researched, but written from the perspective of those whose work she studied.
I've never experienced anything like this. We are studying her studying. It's thrilling! And more importantly, it's progress.
I did not anticipate the dangers our path created. Attempting to extract her thoughts thinned the dimensional barriers around the Atlas. Nothing you can't handle, I'm sure!
Were the trinkets you retrieved to your liking, Exile? Because I need to find more answers. — Zana's Thoughts |
Excellent work. This confirms we can track down more of Zana's relevant thoughts. I propose we spread out our explorations of this new Atlas. Perhaps the fracturing has a purpose... — Penny of Zana's Thoughts |
I've been thinking. If I am not Valdo's bastard, why was the family who raised me so distressed by my questioning? The maid was familiar enough with the man to {hum his favorite tune.}
Possibilities race through my mind. Perhaps only the maid knew Valdo? Perhaps my foster family despised the Caeserius's? Perhaps I am not Valdo's child, but Zana's? I could go on... no theory feels quite right.
The unfortunate conclusion looming before me is: my memories might not be my own. Be they fabrications, or someone else's, I cannot proclaim with confidence that my history is even real. — Eagon's History |
Thank you, Exile. I am beginning to understand what Zana's plans are. Unfortunately, by the time we can put this understanding to action... it is probable that Zana will be lost.
From what we've gathered, Zana has created her own map device, and used some separate arcana to amplify her shaping abilities.
Pinpointing her location {now} will be... difficult, to put it mildly. Her reshaping of the Atlas is tactical. She has hidden the Nexus, where she likely resides.
But why shed her memories to destroy the Atlas? Who is she trying to stop? Does she not see that she is creating more danger? We don't yet have the full picture. — Zana's Plan |
This may sound strange, but I feel... if I knew who I was, it would help us stop Zana.
When we found her, she was genuinely surprised to see me. It threw her off... and at that moment, I saw her conviction falter.
Am I... her weakness? She said "{I} must not understand." Did she keep me away for a specific reason? Next time we meet, I want to disarm her further.
We must find where Zana is located. We may not be able to stop her... but she could stop herself. — Our Next Steps |
That substance... it reminds me of a Templar device, though what we've found is only an approximation. The Thought Extractor, it was called. I've always wanted to try one... within ethical parameters, of course!
A favorite of Templar interrogators, it could project someone's thoughts as visions directly into the mind of the interrogator. It was able to extract truths from even the most suppressed recesses of one's mind.
Memories are not too different from thoughts. We should be able to use this substance and extract the information we need from Zana's mind. — The Substance |
I am certain there is more of this to be found. Its appearance is a byproduct of Zana's reshaping of the Atlas.
Zana's meddling has seemingly created this substance from her memories, an unintended residue of her tangential thoughts while constructing corporeal manifestations of these principal moments... given a physical form restricted by the framework of her singular lived experience. Obviously!
Oh, right - let me simplify it for you: find more of that substance! — The Substance |
I never wondered why I did not appear in any of Zana's writings. Obviously, as her secret half-brother, she would have no idea who I was...
But now I know that isn't true, I'm left questioning everything. I have never felt less in control. Let me tell you, I hate that, exile.
Who am I to her? I am now pained by the thought that she loves me, yet I have left no impression on her life worthy of putting pen to paper.
She spent decades studying the Atlas, after our... {her} father lost himself in pursuit of the Elder. Zana was the only person intelligent enough to stop him {and} complete his mission of banishing the Elder.
Her drive inspired me. I was going to surpass Valdo, and even Zana, in their accomplishments. I knew they'd be proud... if they knew who I was.
In a twisted way, I {am} following in her footsteps. Just as she stopped the Shaper, I must stop Zana, to save her from what she could become. — The Consuming Question |
It's not a literal place, if that's what you're asking. We did not just invade a Templar treasury. Like many things in the Atlas, the figurative must become tangible to be traversable.
Unlike her memories, these Templar vaults are conceptual representations. A physical manifestation of their secured vaults is an apt allegory for the information Zana wanted to hide. — The Templar Vaults |
You say you know this "Isla"? Is she as unstable as she sounds?
She's been in contact with Zana, and recently. It's hard to believe she was once a Templar, when she's performing such bold and, frankly, dangerous experimentation.
To combine a map device with other magics, like runes, which draw power from differing arcanas... now that I've considered it a moment, it's actually inspired. Why did I never think of that?
Different peoples created their own map devices. The designs changed, but the functionality was relatively constant. Why not engineer it further?
I surmise that Zana has altered her own map device. I'm not sure how, but they must be powerful alterations, if she could reshape the Atlas so quickly. — Isla's Vault |
This "Isla" character seems... dodgy.
She's been in contact with Zana, and recently. It's hard to believe she was once a Templar, when she's performing such bold and, frankly, dangerous experimentation.

I'm surprised that Zana would even {consider} lessons from High Templar Venarius. He was the reason her father disappeared... he's undoubtedly a villain, but doubly so to her personally.
Maybe she's looking at where he went wrong? Trying to barter with the Elder was absurd, in hindsight. The Elder ended up being a bigger threat than the interdimensional demons Venarius feared.
The Atlas is a beacon for powerful beings. It allows them access to Wraeclast, among other realms. And the number of entities being drawn toward the Atlas seems to only grow.
I would quite enjoy seeing the High Templar's face upon hearing the Elder's defeat attracted three more Eldritch entities in its stead... — Venarius' Vault |
I've read about this Nexus of the Atlas. Sirus escaped into Oriath by obscuring his plans with a "storm at the heart of the Atlas." That's also where the Shaper built his stronghold.
I knew the Nexus was the Elder's dreamlands, but I did not realize the Atlas originally consisted {only} of the dreamlands.
It's strange to imagine it as anything less than infinite. It feels only natural for the Atlas to contain multitudes. Were the Atlas's realms all created by Valdo?
For Zana to have such impressive powers... I'm certain that Zana's base of operations is the Nexus. However, her alterations to the Atlas have made identifying this "Nexus"... complicated. — Valdo's Vault |
Zana wrote often about the enticing nature of the Atlas. Prolonged exposure caused madness - a very particular madness. The Atlas offers to fulfill one's greatest desires.
Her warnings were adamant enough that I have consciously limited my time in there. She wrote as if the Atlas had its own goals, its own discernment. A burgeoning sentience, rather than inert malleable clay.
I wonder how much time Zana has spent in the Atlas? How did she stay sane, when all her companions could not?
Perhaps that is why Zana is shedding her own memories - she is purging herself of the hopes the Atlas might tempt her with.
But... I think it's deeper than that. Zana managed to fight the Atlas's influence with her memories intact for years. Why purge them now? If the Atlas has awareness... what does it desire? — Zana's Vault |
