Exceptional support gem
Exceptional support gems are a type of support gem found in the endgame. Once the Originator Voidstone is obtained, various endgame bosses in the Atlas have a chance to drop Exceptional support gems. They serve as more powerful versions of regular support gems with new, transformative effects. They are the successor to awakened support gems.
Mechanics
Exceptional support gems have a maximum gem level of 3 (4 for Awakened Empower, Awakened Enhance, and Awakened Enlighten) and require much more experience to level. They generally have a higher level and stat requirement. Corruption outcomes are the same as other regular support gems. They cannot gain quality through the Level 20 support gem vendor recipe.
Mirage Patch Notes
- Introduced Exceptional Support Gems, a new and improved version of Awakened Support Gems, which are being phased out. There are over 40 Exceptional Support Gems, which can be found in the Endgame.
- The Labyrinth Gem craft outcome to exchange a Support Gem for a random Exceptional Support Gem, instead now states you will receive a random Empower, Enlighten or Enhance Support Gem.
- Greater versions of Supports no longer work alongside their non-Greater version, in a similar way to how Awakened Supports did not work with the corresponding non-Awakened version of the Support. In the case both versions of a Support are socketed, the Greater one takes priority.
- Existing Supports affected by this change include: Multiple Projectiles and Greater Multiple Projectiles, Volley and Greater Volley, Spell Echo and Greater Spell Echo.
