# Marylene's Fallacy ## Mechanics [[Marylene's Fallacy]] is rather straightforward in what it does; a massive amount of critical strike multiplier in exchange for 40% less critical strike chance. With the base 150% Critical Strike Multipler the breakeven point where Marylene's does less damage is if your base critical strike multiplier before equipping Marylene's is higher than 235% (85% additional critical strike multiplier). This, however is changed when Critial Strike Luck from either [[Diamond Flask]] or [[Dance with Death]] is applied. Wtih a base 100% critical strike chance, the critical strike chance with [[Marylene's Fallacy]] is 84%, following the Luck formula.  (2*0.6)-(0.6^2)=0.84=84% In every case where your critical strike multiplier before equipping [[Marylene's Fallacy]] is higher than 390% (150% base + 240% additional) using [[Marylene's Fallacy]] is a loss of opportunity as you have to invest massively into critical strike chance. [[Marylene's Fallacy]] combined with Luck is most effective when your pre-Marylene's critical strike chance is between 50%-80%.
