Legion league

Ancestor Patch Notes

  • The Domain of Timeless Conflict now has a minimum area level of 80. Specific Timeless Emblems and Unrelenting Timeless Emblems no longer provide additional area levels.
  • Additional area levels are now added based on the number of Emblems used. 4 Emblems increases the area level by 1, and 5 Emblems increases it by 2.
  • Each Unrelenting Timeless Emblem increases the area level by 0.5 area level (rounding down). Meaning with 5 emblems the maximum area level is 84.
  • The 20% increased Experience gain for each Timeless Emblem has been removed.
  • Each Unrelenting Timeless Emblems now adds 10% increased Experience Gain (previously 20%), and this is now stated on the item tooltip.
  • Each Timeless Emblem and Unrelenting Timeless Emblem now adds 15% more Monster Life (previously 10%), and now also adds 10% increased Monster Damage.

Legion Changes

  • Added three new Incubators related to Blight, Delirium and Metamorph.
  • Abyssal Incubators can now drop Abyss Scarabs.
  • Cartographer's Incubators can now drop Shaper and Elder-influenced maps, as well as maps with Delirium Orbs applied to them.
  • Decadent Incubators can no longer drop Perandus league-exclusive unique items and now drops Scarabs more often.
  • Enchanted Incubators can now drop items with an enchantment from the Eternal Labyrinth.
  • Fragmented Incubators can now drop Offerings to the Goddess and can no longer drop Pale Court Key fragments.
  • Foreboding Incubators can now drop Harbinger Scarabs. Ancient Orbs can now only be dropped from Foreboding Incubators of level 68 or higher.
  • The item drop pool for the Mysterious Incubator has been updated to include all of the new rewards.

Blight Patch Notes

Legion Mechanics Added to the Core Game

With the Legion league being so well-received, we've added Legion to the core game. You can now encounter Legion in the following ways:

  • As a new possible Incursion room, with each tier increasing the potential value of the Legion encounter in the eventual Temple of Atzoatl.
  • As a rare Delve encounter.
  • As a random encounter within the Atlas (10% chance in each Map).
  • In addition to the above ways of encountering Legion monoliths, you can now find Legion uniques in chests that award league-restricted items.
  • Vagan now awards various Legion-related items in Betrayal Safehouses. In Transportation Safehouses he awards Legion Splinters. In Research he awards Incubators. In Intervention he awards Legion Scarabs. In Fortification he awards a set of chests that can be found in Legion encounters.
  • Unique items that can be found exclusively from Legion encounters as of 3.7.0 can still only be found from Legion encounters and the related reward sources above.

Changes to Legion Mechanics

We've made the following balance changes to accomodate Legion in the core game:

  • Item rewards within the Domain of Timeless Conflict now diminish over time. Experience does not change.
  • Item reward variance from Domain of Timeless Conflict encounters of differing numbers of Emblems has been flattened. You'll now receive approximately the same quantity of items per Emblem used in 2-Emblem encounters as in 5-Emblem encounters.
  • Time-frozen Legion monsters who are afflicted by a proliferating Ignite, and similar lingering effects, will no longer remove that Ignite upon being broken out.
  • A wider variety of rewards can now be found in some Incubators.

Introduction

The Legion league and Hardcore Legion league were challenge leagues. They ran from June 7, 2019 to September 2, 2019.

In this league, players can find a Monolith in each zone. When approached, it will reveal a battle between Legions, frozen in time. Damaging the enemies while they are in stasis will free them when time resumes, where they can be fought and killed for loot. Legion enemies can drop splinters that form an Emblem of their Legion. Combining multiple of these Emblems in a Map Device opens a portal to the Domain of Timeless Conflict, where the heart of the conflict takes place. Items that can be found in this league include incubators that turn into valuable items after getting a certain amount of kills while bound to an equipment, a 5-slot Map Device, and Timeless Jewels that greatly alter passive skills around it - even Keystone passives.

All characters and stashes were moved to Standard league and Hardcore league respectively when the leagues ended. Characters that died in the Hardcore Legion league were immediately moved to the permanent Standard league.

League mechanic

Each area contains a Timeless Monolith. Interacting with the Monolith will reveal a battle between Legions, with the enemies in stasis. The player must deal enough damage to them before the timer runs out to break them out of stasis. Once the timer runs out, all the enemies you freed will become unfrozen and start attacking, where they can be killed. Enemies can have symbols above them, which indicate what type of loot they can drop. There are also chests and war hordes that contain loot, which must also be broken out of stasis.

Legion encounters can drop Timeless Splinters for the enemy's faction. 100 of these can be combined into an Emblem, which are used to open a portal to the Domain of Timeless Conflict. The type and number of emblems used to open the Domain will determine which enemies will appear.
