Alteration Shard
An Alteration Shard is a currency item obtained by selling certain items to vendors (See Vendor Recipes). It can be combined with other shards to form an 
Orb of Alteration.
Unlike earlier shards, a variable amount of shards are given, depending on each type of modifier and the total number of them on the identified item. Each modifier can give from 1-8 shards, with a full list provided on the recipes page. Some modifiers give 
Alchemy Shard when sold also. While it is possible to sell items of magic rarity for shards, it is usually more efficient on 
Scroll of Wisdom to focus on rare items which have more modifiers.
