1Find Oyun and save her from Kira
Kira has kidnapped Oyun and plans to sacrifice her to Garukhan, a Maraketh Goddess. Kill Kira and save Oyun.
  • Find Oyun and save her from Kira

  • Area: The Quarry
    NPC:
  • Sin Garukhan: A traveler on the winds, Garukhan pridefully plundered the sky for its secrets. To her mind, wisdom could be found in the eye of a hurricane.

Please understand that Garukhan is not an evil being. She was once my friend and companion. Her beauty astonished me as her aspirations inspired me. Yet I must forgo my sentiments for the sake of humankind.

Like winds erode the sandstone, Garukhan has been warped by the same powers she enslaved. This is not my goddess that you shall slay. And if I continue to say it, I might very well come to believe it.
  • 2Kill Kira and Garukhan
Kira has sacrificed Oyun and summoned Garukhan. Kill both of them and take the Sekhema Feather.
  • Kill Kira and Garukhan

  • Area: The Quarry
    3Take the Sekhema Feather
You have killed Kira and Garukhan but failed to save Oyun. Take the Sekhema Feather and give to either Tasuni or Irasha.
  • Take the Sekhema Feather

  • Area: The Quarry
    NPC:
  • Irasha Garukhan: As a child, my mother told me stories of the old gods, that they were to be feared and venerated, that they embodied the everlasting spirit of the Maraketh people. But this false queen, Garukhan, she was nothing but a goddess of lies.

By accepting Kira's slaughter of Oyun as a sacrifice of worth, the goddess has played her part in forsaking our most sacred tenet. Honour the Mother, Honour the Life. The bones of our tribe-mother, have been ground into the dust by this divine insanity.

If the old gods can't follow the very traditions they themselves set forth, then how can we? Perhaps the time has come to forge our customs anew, in our image, not those of false and selfish gods.
  • Irasha Maraketh Justice: When I was twelve, three men came out of the Vastiri plains and set their eyes upon me. They asked me for water, but took much more.

When the women of Highgate finally caught them, I was given an opportunity to enact the execution myself, an offer I gladly took. Even at twelve, I knew the price for betraying the {akhara}.

Tasuni knew Oyun was to perish at the hands of that overreaching bitch, yet he did nothing to save her. Should I ever be in a position to punish such treachery, I shall do so... with pleasure.
  • Petarus and Vanja Oyun: Vanja: Oyun was my friend. To depart this world in the manner she did is...

Petarus: ...Barbaric. And without a protector for the tribe, we're sitting ducks here. Tasuni thinks he can rule, but he is seduced by all manner of dark things.

Vanja: There is no easy fix here. I'll be awake for many nights to come.

Petarus: I'll be right beside you, my love.

Vanja: Let's not fool ourselves love. You'll be sleeping.

Petarus: In any case, it'll be time to crown a new chieftainess soon.

Vanja: Or chieftain. Tasuni is next in the bloodline. Sure, he doesn't mind breaking a few rules, but at least he's no Dominus.

Petarus: I do hope you're joking, sweets! The Maraketh are a matriarchy! The men here aren't used to being in charge. Tasuni would ruin everything the Mother stands for.

Vanja: You would have them crown Irasha?

Petarus: She's strong, stable and traditional. I don't see why she shouldn't rule.

Vanja: Because, ironically, Tasuni has the one thing that Irasha lacks.

    Petarus: What's that?

    Vanja: Vision.
  • Sin Garukhan: It shames me to know the horrors wrought by our hands, here and now. Garukhan was... complicated, but she was also stubborn and never would have thought to change her ways.

We have given her a sky burial; that is the best that we can do. Even in the old times, she was vain beyond comparison. It was her ambition that corrupted her, despite all my warning words.

Well, look now, where ambition has gotten you, my love...

  • 4Deliver the Sekhema Feather to Tasuni or Irasha
You have killed Kira and Garukhan but failed to save Oyun. Give the Sekhema Feather to either Tasuni or Irasha. Whoever gets the Feather will rule Highgate.
  • Deliver the Sekhema Feather to Tasuni or Irasha Whoever gets the Feather will rule Highgate

  • Area: Highgate
    NPC:
  • Irasha Feather of Sekhema: Not since the fall of Deshret has this {akhara} seen so sad a moment. Our gods are false. Our Sekhema is dead. But you, Outsider, you offer hope.

Without the Feather, Tasuni will be unable to take control of Highgate, no matter how much he lies and whines. My people will never allow it.

And Oyun's passing leaves me with only one course of action. I will take the Sekhema Feather and mount the saddle of Highgate. It will be a difficult journey ahead. Our faith has died with the gods you have slain, yet I know in my heart that we will find a way to go on.

For your troubles, outsider. Perhaps I was wrong, and good can come from beyond our borders.
  • Tasuni Feather of Sekhema: The shadows are lifting at last! Hand in hand, you and I, we have guided my people towards a brighter future. I suppose you wonder why I do not mourn? For my sister. For Oyun.

Why should I? There is no sense in shedding a tear for those who stand in the way of progress. They have passed from this coil, and that is the best thing either could have done for their people.

With our poor sekhema removed from her saddle, the way is clear. In lieu of a worthy leader, I shall step up, and with the backing of my followers, claim the throne of Highgate.

Irasha may spit and curse, yet her duty shall overcome her distaste. She will bow to the one who bears the feather as high custom dictates.
  • Niko, Master of the Depths Introduction: Well, this nice little outpost here's been, shall we say, marred. Don't get me wrong, I love a splash of colour, I just don't love that colour splashing on me and my friends here. Why do I get the feeling you were involved...?
  • Niko, Master of the Depths Introduction: Blood everywhere around here... Startin' to remind me of my time in that little room back in Oriath. All that digging really made a mess of me hands. The mitts ain't just for protecting me against the sulphite you know.
  • Niko, Master of the Depths Introduction: How can there be this much blood, exile? Where's it coming from? Where's it going? Know what I think? I think it's going back into the mountain. One big loop, exile. One bloody big loop, and someone's down there pumpin it.
  • Niko, Master of the Depths Introduction: This is a bad omen, exile. A real baaaad sign. What if all the water's turning to blood, eh? They say the Cataclysm did all sorts of strange things. This seems pretty strange to me! Been having a lot of dreams where I drink all that blood up. My body swells up like a big grape. Can't hold it in. BANG! I'm gone. What do you think that means, eh? Maybe I'm the only one who can stop it... Maybe I'm the reason it's here in the first place.
  • Niko, Master of the Depths Introduction: Quite liked it here, you know, right up until the bloody mountainside started bloody... well... bleedin'. Thought for sure I was hallucinating, 'til the others started screaming and scrambling. Always nice to get a little reassurance about your sanity, eh?

    NPC:
  • Irasha Feather of Sekhema: My poor Oyun... Tell me, exile, did she suffer? No, I don't desire to know. She was a good ruler, wise and benevolent. Our people will miss her, and I shall grieve her as if she were my own flesh and blood.

But now, Tasuni, with feather in hand, moves to take Highgate for himself. His followers are as blind as he, and so must you be, for it's clear to my eyes that Tasuni desires but one wish. To rise up as a god.

We have seen our old gods born anew from the sand, flesh and blood where once there was only song and story. Tasuni would turn his weak flesh and watery blood into law and legend. To think that Highgate might fall to the whims of that shriveled cock!

You have brought me grief... then, that is typical of outsiders, is it not?
  • Petarus and Vanja Irasha: Petarus: Irasha holds the feather? Then Highgate has been saved. She may not be in the bloodline, but she holds fast to their traditions, and that's all that matters. Just think, Tasuni may have steered the tribe into dangerous and unknown territory.

Vanja: The beast you know is not always better than the one you don't, my love.
  • Petarus and Vanja Tasuni: Vanja: Tasuni has the feather? Then Highgate is saved. It's about time they gave the men of the tribe a chance to prove themselves. Tasuni will usher in a new dawn for the Maraketh.

Petarus: For all our sakes, I hope you're right, sweets.

Vanja: Have you not got anything between those legs of yours, my dear? One would suppose that man would like another man to rule more than he would a woman.

Petarus: Well one would suppose wrong then. Tasuni may benefit me simply because I was born of the same sort as he, but it's the future of this fascinating tribe that worries me - he's reckless and flippant of their sacred traditions. I fear with him at the front of their {dekhara}, they will lose what makes them sacred. They will become like the bloody savages that wander the wastelands, or worse - a Blackguard!

Vanja: Being a Blackguard wasn't that bad, surely?

    Petarus: ...never again.
  • Tasuni Feather of Sekhema: It seems as though fate shan't be content with just the taking of my eyes. It is pernicious enough to steal my vision from me as well!

I had planned to lead my people into a brighter, better future with the passing of our dear Oyun, but fate uses you to torment me. Still, I must not despair, time is on my side, and in Wraeclast, nobody remains as Sekhema for long.
