Orb of Transmutation

An Orb of Transmutation is a currency item that can be used to upgrade a piece of normal equipment to magic.

Obtaining

Orbs of Transmutation are common currency items that can be dropped by slain monsters, chests, and destructible containers. They also drop from Arcanist's Strongboxes.

Orbs of Transmutation can also be obtained by combining 20 CurrencyUpgradeToMagicShardTransmutation Shard, which are in turn obtained by selling unidentified magic and rare items to any vendor.

An Orb of Transmutation can also be purchased from Nessa in exchange for 7 CurrencyPortalPortal Scroll.

Spending

The most common use for Orbs of Transmutation is upgrading a normal item into a magic item, often as the first step in a longer crafting process. The resulting item may have a prefix, suffix, or both, each randomly rolled according to the possibilities afforded the original item, also taking into account its item level.

Orbs of Transmutation can be used in vendor recipes to make two-stat amulets, using the combinations listed above. They can also be sold for CurrencyIdentificationScroll of Wisdom, which is a handy way to save space and avoid picking up individual scrolls.

Orbs of Transmutation can also be used to purchase goods from vendors, such as various unidentified magic items. Furthermore, one can purchase an CurrencyAddModToMagicOrb of Augmentation in exchange for 4 Orbs of Transmutation from Nessa.

Finally, Orbs of Transmutation can also be used to craft a variety of low-level affixes onto items using the crafting bench at the Hideout. This can provide a cheap but effective way to improve a player's equipment at low and medium levels, during which one does not want to invest too heavily into equipment since it will quickly be eclipsed at higher levels.
