  • Expedition Remnants that provide a chance for Runic Monsters and Excavated chests to drop or contain an additional Influenced Item now have a chance of 20% (previously 35%) as they provided a higher number of Influenced Items relative to other sources.

Expedition Changes

  • Expedition has been added to the core game. You can find Expeditions from Act 6 onwards, and in Maps you’ll have approximately an 8% chance to encounter an Expedition site.
  • Expedition Artifacts are no longer tradeable items, which has two key effects. The first is that they are automatically collected as you complete Expeditions, and the second is that all characters can now engage with the Kalguuran merchants without having to feel that their best plan is to trade the currency away to other players who may use it more efficiently than them. It's a difficult decision working out whether to make specific items tradeable or not, but we feel that on balance, this new approach will solve several problems with the system. It's also worth noting that the currency items that allow you to reroll the vendors' inventories are still tradeable.
  • Logbooks now have a maximum Area Level of 83.
  • Logbooks now display their Area Level on their Item Icon.
  • Accessing Expedition Vendor shops now has a character level requirement of 35.
  • Replaced Perandus Scarabs with new Expedition Scarabs. This change affects existing Scarabs.
  • Replaced the Decadent Incubator with a new Kalguuran Incubator, which can be added to an equippable item, dropping an Expedition Item after killing a certain amount of Monsters. This change affects existing Decadent Incubators.
  • Existing Decadent Delirium Orbs will be replaced with Kalguuran Delirium Orbs, which add layers of Delirium with the Expedition Item reward type to Maps. This is the only source of Kalguuran Delirium Orbs, these are unobtainable as item drops or from any other source.
  • Existing Metamorph Organs that previously gave Perandus rewards will instead provide Expedition Item rewards. Expedition rewards cannot be obtained from new Metamorph encounters.
  • Rog's crafting prices have been tweaked so that Common Artifacts aren't in higher demand than Lesser and Greater Artifacts.
  • Monsters spawned in Expedition encounters now have 35% less chance to spawn Beyond Portals on Death. Expedition Faction Currency Chests are now more common than other Chests in Expedition Logbooks.
  • The "Runic Monsters are Duplicated" Remnant modifier is now rarer.
  • Remnant modifiers found in Expedition sites that grant Runic Monsters and Chests a chance to drop an additional Map or Unique now grant 20% chance (previously 35%).
  • Remnant modifiers found in Expedition sites that grant Runic Monsters and Chests a chance to drop an additional Gem, Weapon, Jewellery Item or Armour Item can now be found at all Levels of Expedition Sites (previously up to Level 67 Expedition sites).
  • Added new Expedition Watchstone Modifiers, some of which can increase the amount of Expedition rewards dropped by Monsters.

Introduction

Expedition league is a challenge league. It will launch on July 23, 2021 (UTC), alongside the Version 3.15.0 patch.

This league introduces four NPC characters from the Kalguuran expedition, who came to Wraeclast to excavate their ancestor's lost settlements. Using explosives, the player sets them around the expedition site to unearth the monsters or treasure hiding underneath. After recovering artifact pieces from the expedition, you can barter or gamble with them for items. Kalguuran equipment have a special defense stat called Ward, which shields the user from damage on the next hit they take and replenishes after a delay.

League mechanic

One of the four NPCs from the Kalguuran expedition will spawn in the area, surrounded by various markers. Approaching them will allow you to start placing explosives to excavate the area. Any marker within the explosives range will unearth monsters or chests. The explosives detonate in the order you've placed them, and there is a maximum range between explosives. There are also Remnants which add mods to monsters and chests spawned from the explosion and all subsequent explosions.

The top of Remnant shows its modifiers and it increases the difficulty of killing monsters. The bottom of Remnant shows its rewards.

Excavated Chest has three tiers: white, yellow, and red. Red Excavated Chest contains the most valuable items.

Opening an Excavated Chest has no risk. All you need to do is by placing the Chest into its circle.

Excavated Chest contains Expedition artifacts.

You can obtain more specific items by adding Excavated Chests Remnant Mods, such as 50% increased Quantity of Expedition Logbooks found in Excavated Chests.

Monsters

Monsters

There are many different Expedition monsters, include normal Monster, Magic Monster, Rare Monster, Runic Monster, etc. The bigger the monster is, the more rewards you will get. You must firstly kill monsters, then loot their items. Different from Heist, if you die, you can play again and get their loots.

The monster rewards include Expedition Logbooks.

You can obtain more specific items by adding Monster Remnant Mods, such as 50% increased Quantity of Expedition Logbooks dropped by Runic Monsters.

How to Place Explosive

Firstly, check all the Excavated Chests, Monsters, and Remnant Mods. Then, decide how to place explosives.

The start explosive is near the NPC. The remaining number of Placement is shown at the bottom. You can undo Placement(Shift + V).

For the chest, always choose the red Excavated Chest.

Expedition Currency & NPCs

Any artifacts you find from the expedition will match the NPC that spawned. NPCs do not refresh their stock unless it is manually restocked, using specific currency items to do so.

  • Gwennen - Sells unidentified equipment which reveals its rarity and mods when purchased. Takes Black Scythe Artifacts and Astragali for restocks.
  • Tujen - Sells non-equipment items at the listed price, but they can be haggled down for lower. Tujen may make a counteroffer or even remove the item from sale. Takes Broken Circle Artifacts and Exotic Coinage for restocks.
  • Rog - Sells identified rare equipment. Before taking the item, he will make an offer to modify it for more Artifacts at different prices. You cannot skip an offer twice in a row. Takes Order Artifacts and Scrap Metal for restocks.
  • Dannig - Opens portals using Expedition Logbooks in the hideout. Sells Artifacts for the other three NPCs in exchange for Sun Artifacts. Restocking with Buried Medallion adds better artifact exchange rates and/or reroll items.
