  • Lower the damage from Totem, Trap, Mine and Trigger effects to balance out the buff to these spells. The intention is that in general, these builds should deal the same damage at high levels as they did previously. While at face value these changes will look like nerfs, for the most part they shouldn't be due to the buffs to spells. However, we do acknowledge there will be a small number of builds that will be negatively affected by these changes. Additionally, because we've adjusted some support gems that multiply the number of traps thrown, we've provided some compensation for this on non-cooldown trap skills like Fire Trap and Lightning Trap.
  • Lightning Trap: Now deals 15 to 46 Lightning Damage at gem level 1 (previously 18 to 54), up to 659 to 1978 at gem level 20 (previously 466 to 1399). Now has 240% Effectiveness of Added Damage at all gem levels (previously 170%).

    • The interaction between trap skills with cooldowns and sources of additional traps thrown (such as the Multiple Traps or Cluster Trap Supports) has been changed, and now work as they did with Vaal Lightning Trap previously. Namely, additional traps can only be thrown if the skill has at least one extra trap cooldown stockpiled, and only as many additional traps will be thrown as there are cooldowns stockpiled. In other words, if you have three Seismic Traps stockpiled and have the Shaper's additional trap glove mod, you'll throw two traps and consume two Seismic Trap cooldowns. If you only have two cooldowns stockpiled and attempt to throw three Seismic Traps via the Multitrap support, you will only throw two traps.

          • Cast speed: Modifiers to Cast speed do not affect Lightning Trap since it is the trap, not the player, that is casting the spell.

          • Damage types: Lightning Trap is affected by modifiers to Lightning Damage, Elemental Damage, Projectile Damage, Spell Damage, and Trap Damage.

          • Pierce: Lightning trap does not pierce by default, but it can do so if player has pierce chance from items/passives or it is linked with Pierce Support gem.

          • Chain: Lightning trap can chain if linked with Chain Support gem. Chained projectiles can miss the targets if they are moving too quickly.

          • Projectile Speed: Modifiers to Projectile Speed from passives or things like Faster Projectiles Support affect the maximum distance each projectile can travel. Higher projectile speed also makes chained projectiles hit more frequently as they won't fly past moving enemies so often.

          • Curse on Hit: Lightning Trap does not work with Curse on Hit
