  • Faustus is now in your Hideout once you have met him in either Kingsmarch or Lioneye's Watch (Act 6).
  • In each town you are now able to find an NPC that offers to identify all items within your inventory, typically the one which offers caster items and jewellery for purchase. Faustus has this option in Rogue Harbour, while Rog offers it in Kingsmarch. Nessa only offers this service after you have reached Merveil's Caverns. The Identify Items option does not require any Scrolls of Wisdom, and as a result of this the drop rate of Scrolls of Wisdom has been vastly reduced after Act 1.
  • Added 5 new Stash Tab Affinities for Incubators, Scouting Reports, Ritual Items, Sanctum Tomes/Research, and Settlers Items.

  • Added a new Strength Support Gem, Overexertion: Supports melee attack skills which can be exerted, causing them to deal more Damage for each Warcry exerting them. Cannot modify the skills of minions. Vaal skills and channelling skills cannot be exerted.
  • Added a new Strength/Dexterity Skill Gem, Eviscerate: Retaliate against a blocked hit with an arcing slash that releases two waves of force. Enemies in front of you can be hit by both waves. Requires a Sword or Axe and a Shield.
    • The following Gems have been removed and are no longer offered as quest rewards: Ancestral Protector, Ancestral Warchief, Vaal Ancestral Warchief, and Earthbreaker Support.

March of the Legion is unaffected by these changes, and is now the sole source of this Support.
  • Call to Arms: Has been renamed to Autoexertion. It now reserves 15% Mana per Supported Warcry to cause those Warcries to be repeatedly triggered. It now grants Supported Skills 0–19% increased Cooldown Recovery Rate (previously 30–11% reduced Cooldown Recovery Rate), and now has "Supported Warcries do not grant Buffs or Charges to you or Allies". It also now cannot support Retaliation Skills. Quality now grants Supported Skills 0–10% increased Cooldown Recovery Rate (previously 0–5%).

  • 3.24.0
  • Added a new Strength Skill Gem - Call to Arms: While this skill is active, supported warcries will be repeatedly triggered, and all your warcry skills will share cooldowns. Supports warcry skills. Cannot modify the skills of minions.
  • The most difficult and most rewarding content in Path of Exile can be found in Uber Pinnacle bosses, such as The Maven and The Searing Exarch. Currently the only way to access these bosses is by allocating specific Keystones on the Atlas Passive Tree. While this system offers a nice element of control, it causes a problem: Rewards and access to the non-Uber variants are now economically priced around the rewards of the Uber fights. This means it is wasteful to run the non-Uber variants instead of simply selling them.
  • Added 3 new Scarab clusters to the Atlas Passive Tree that each have 2 small Passives providing 4% increased Scarabs found in your maps, and 9 Atlas Notable Passives that causes Scarabs in your Map to be 100% more likely to be either Essence, Beyond, Torment, Reliquary, Cartography, Anarchy, Ambush, Harbinger, or Domination Scarabs.

  • The Vaal Oligarchs and Artefacts of the Vaal cluster now has 3 small Passives instead of 5. Two small Passive provide "Your Maps have +8% chance to contain Alva", while the third provides "5% increased Quantity of Items dropped in Incursions in your Maps.
  • Small Searing Exarch Item Chance Atlas Passives after the Baptised by Fire and The Light of Dawn Atlas Notable Passvives now instead provide "Monster Packs Influenced by The Searing Exarch in your Maps have 5% increased Pack Size".
  • Vorici's Research Safehouse reward is now a stash of Harvest Scarabs. This does not apply to Ruthless.
  • Hillock's Research Safehouse reward is now a stash of Anarchy Scarabs. This does not apply to Ruthless.
  • Jorgin's Research Safehouse reward is now a stash of Ritual Scarabs.

  • Anarchy (costs 2 Chaos Orbs): Area is inhabited by 3 additional Rogue Exiles.
  • Archmage Support: Can no longer Support Brand or Orb Skills. • The Admonisher Notable Passive Skill no longer provides 20% increased Warcry Cooldown Recovery Rate. Instead, it now provides 15% increased Damage for each time you've Warcried Recently. The small Passive Skill prior no longer provides 12% increased Warcry Cooldown Recovery Rate.
  • The three small Passive Skills in the Deep Breaths cluster now provide 15% increased Warcry Cooldown Recovery Rate (previously 12%).
  • We’ve added three new Support Gems in this patch. These Support Gems are all given out in Act One, and supplement the early game of some archetypes as well as introducing players to interesting Path of Exile mechanics early on, such as gems triggering other gems, in a relatively simple manner. To give another single target option for bows, we've also created a standalone version of the Snipe Skill Gem, which previously was only available through the unique helmet Assailum.

    Arcane Surge

In an effort to have Cast Speed still available early for casters who want to invest into it in their support links, Arcane Surge now grants Cast Speed instead of More Spell Damage. Changes to Hierophant and Ascendant, as well as minor changes to Arcane Surge related passives on the tree, have been made to account for this.
    • Arcane Surge Support no longer causes Arcane Surge to grant more Spell Damage. Instead, it now causes Arcane Surge to grant 10% increased Cast Speed at gem level 1, scaling up to 20% at gem level 20. Supported Skills also now deal 10% more Spell Damage while you have Arcane Surge at gem level 1 (unchanged), up to 25% at gem level 20 (previously 19%).
  • Hierophant's Arcane Blessing Ascendancy Passive Skill no longer provides 50% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you. Instead, it now provides "Arcane Surge grants 20% more Spell Damage to you".
  • The small passives prior to Arcane Blessing and Illuminated Devotion both now provide 20% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you (previously 10%).
  • The Ascendant's Hierophant Ascendancy Passive Skill no longer provides 25% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you. Instead, it now provides "Arcane Surge grants 10% more Spell Damage to you".
  • The small Passive Skill prior to the Arcane Capacitor Notable Passive Skill that provides Mana and Arcane Surge Effect now provides 20% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you (previously 10%). The entry small Passive Skill for this cluster also now has 20% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you.
  • Stunning enemies has become too trivial with the amount of hit damage the majority of players regularly deal. To combat this, we've made it harder to stun enemies with hits for almost all skills - however, since Melee relies on stuns more than other archetypes for survivability, the ability for Melee Attacks to stun enemies has remained untouched.
  • It that Fled's Betrayal Research Safehouse reward in Ruthless is now a Jewel Crafting Spree.
  • Fixed an issue where Hillock was providing an incorrect reward on Research duty in Ruthless.
  • Fixed a bug where the Searing Exarch Eldritch Altar modifier which provided increased Quantity and Rarity of Items found in the Area had an incorrect increased Quantity value range. It has been updated to 10-20% (previously 10-30%), to match the Eater of Worlds Eldritch Altar modifier.
  • 3.20.0
  • The Forbidden Sanctum is a roguelike that takes place within Path of Exile. You will explore the Templars' sanctum which is rumored to be hidden beneath the Fellshrine Ruins. Long abandoned, a malevolent presence has taken hold. In each area of Wraeclast you play through, you will have the opportunity to explore one room of the Sanctum as you search for its treasures.
    • Added a new, optional game mode for Path of Exile: Ruthless. This is an additional character creation flag alongside Hardcore and Solo Self-Found that allows you to opt-in to extreme item scarcity and various other changes. Challenges will not be enabled in Ruthless versions of the Sanctum League.
  • The Aesthete can now be found in the Carcass Map.
  • The Nurse can now be found in the Carcass Map.
  • The Offering can now be found in the Carcass Map.
  • Monster Mods and Archnemesis

Archnemesis monster mods each added a number of stats and buffs to monsters, causing them to feel overwhelming and confusing (especially when multiple mods were present on the same monster).
  • Here's an example: The Magma Barrier Archnemesis mod did a whole lot of stuff. It started by putting a magma barrier around the monster, but it didn't stop there. It converted some of the monster's physical damage to fire damage, it added some extra fire damage on top, it granted fire resistance to the monster and it gave some physical damage reduction for good measure. It also spawned volatile flamebloods to follow you. The new equivalent modifier just puts a magma barrier around the monster and does nothing else.
  • The percentage of Archnemesis mods that significantly changed gameplay was high, and combinations of modifiers that required careful play arose too frequently, making content too complex.
The way Archnemesis rewards were set up meant that many players felt like they couldn't just kill a monster, they had to consider if they wanted to bring a magic find character in to maximise rewards
  • In Archnemesis, rewards were associated with individual mods. This meant that you could tell what kind of rewards you would get in advance. In some cases, you were then effectively required to fetch a magic-find culling character to make sure that you maximised the value of the monster mod that you had found. In other cases, you would ignore a monster completely if you knew that it would only drop rewards that were of no value to you. In the new system, we have added a significant pool of new rewards to rares, but the reward that is on the monster is hidden (and not associated with a specific mod), so you don't know what kind of rewards you will get until you kill the monster. Rare monsters with more mods are more likely to have these special hidden reward mods. This new reward system smooths out the spikiness that the Archnemesis reward system had.
    • The original motivation for developing Archnemesis was that the previous monster mod system was very out of date. Many of the mods didn't have any appreciable effect under modern balance and there wasn't a lot of interesting gameplay possible. In our opinion, Archnemesis did succeed at adding a lot of interesting new mechanics to rares, but introduced the problems described above. While creating the new monster mods described, we were careful to retain most of the interesting mechanics that Archnemesis introduced, but in a way that doesn't include a grab-bag of other effects and is diluted by many other simpler mods.
  • The result is a system that is very similar to what monster mods used to be like, but with much more up-to-date content and balance. Mods are simpler and say exactly what they do. While you can certainly still rarely encounter scary combinations of mods that really wake you up, it's a lot rarer than it was under the Archnemesis system. We feel that the new system is more modern and interesting than the old monster mod/nemesis system and is clearer and easier to understand in the heat of combat than Archnemesis was.
  • On the whole, Scarabs will be offered a lot less than before from Altars. However, we don't want them to be too scarce in general. As such, we're adding Rusted Scarabs to the core drop pool. We are also adding a vendor recipe that can be used to upgrade Scarabs between tiers using the usual 3:1 ratio (up to Gilded Scarabs). We are adding an 'Upgrade' button in the Fragment Stash Tab that can upgrade your Scarabs in this way, similar to the upgrade function in the Essence Stash Tab.
  • We have redesigned this keystone. It now has "Eldritch Altars Influenced by The Searing Exarch have 50% chance to have an additional Upside" and "Eldritch Altars Influenced by The Searing Exarch which have an additional Upside have 100% increased Effect of Downsides." It no longer has any of its former stats. The overall risk vs. reward nature of this keystone is still in place, it's just a lot less intense now.
    • We've removed Atlas Passives that increase the amount of rewards from limited content such as Shaper, Elder, The Searing Exarch, The Eater of Worlds, and The Maven. The purpose of this is such that you should be able to engage with this content at any time.
Pinnacle bosses, Map bosses, Incursion architects, Betrayal targets, Breachlords and others no longer have 33% or 66% less effect of curses on them respectively.
  • Anarchy (costs 2 Chaos Orbs): Area is inhabited by 2 additional Rogue Exiles.
  • Fixed a bug where the Arcane Tome microtransaction did not have summon audio when applied to a Ballista Totem.
  • Fixed a wonky visual interaction between the Scourgelord Weapon Skin microtransaction and Mirage Archer.
  • 3.19.0

    Archnemesis

  • In addition, Archnemesis modifiers have had their rewards reviewed. The number of mods directly correlates to increased item drop bonuses, and powerful modifiers that show up in the third and fourth mod slot use a new reward conversion system that stacks with the other drop bonuses and with player item rarity and quantity.
  • Some of the more powerful Monster modifiers now use a special reward conversion system. For example, if you defeat a monster with the Corrupter mod, all of its drops become corrupted. The Solaris-touched mod converts all of its item drops to maps. The Kitava-touched mod will cause the rarity of its drops to be upgraded by one tier, so magic becomes rare, rare becomes unique, etc). If you're lucky, you can find these conversion modifiers on both the third and fourth mod of a rare monster. This causes them to stack together. So if you kill a four-mod rare monster with both the Entangler and Kitava-touched mods on it, its heavily juiced drops will also be converted to jewels with their rarity upgraded by a tier. Due to the high amount of inherent item rarity that four-mod monsters have, this may result in several unique jewels. This conversion system is fully compatible with your item rarity and quantity bonuses, as well as the drop bonuses from all other archnemesis mods.
    • Magic monsters have a restricted list of archnemesis modifiers compared to rare monsters, but this list still includes many modifiers which can spawn threats external to the monsters themselves, such as ground effects or volatile orbs. These external threats can feel overwhelming due to magic monsters being more numerous than rare monsters.
  • We have toned down the modifiers that can spawn on magic monsters so that more of them are stat-based bonuses that aren't too spammy. All monsters in an instance that are the same or very similar will have the same magic monster modifier, rather than rolling a different Archnemesis modifier for each monster.
  • The following Archnemesis modifiers have been renamed to make their function slightly more clear from their name:
    • Problem: Monsters with block chance generally take a small percentage of incoming damage when they block rather than no damage at all, to prevent blocking feeling too punishing for players. However, Archnemesis modifiers that grant block chance prevent 100% of blocked damage.
  • Solution: Monsters with the Sentinel and Benevolent Guardian Archnemesis modifiers now take 20% of damage from hits they block.
    • Beyond had several issues. Firstly, its art was eight years old and outdated. Secondly, the number of magic and rare monsters spawned was so much higher than the rest of the game that it provided a gigantic amount of experience and items to players who stacked it heavily, and was mostly irrelevant to everyone else. The number of rares spawned also caused problems with Archnemesis modifiers.
  • Like with Archnemesis and Beyond, we have also addressed the monster composition of Harvest's fights, so that it doesn't contain too many rare monster mods and so that it is of appropriate difficulty for its rewards. In addition, the rewards for Harvest now scale with map quantity and pack size, incentivising you to juice your maps. Previously the crafts you received were not scaled up at all if you played a harder map.
  • Leo's Betrayal Research Safehouse crafting bench rewards have been replaced. They no longer Randomise the numeric values of the Implicit Modifiers of an item, randomise the numeric values of the Random Modifiers of an item, or Augment a Rare item with a new Random Modifier. Instead, they now Reforge the colours of, number of, or links between sockets on an item 50 times, using the outcome with the greatest number of less-common socket colours, sockets, or linked sockets respectively.
  • The Reverberation Rod Unique Wand now has Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 10 Controlled Destruction, and Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 10 Arcane Surge.
  • Added a new Atlas Notable Passive Skill, Archaeology Tour, which causes randomly encountered Masters in your Maps to have a 100% increased chance to be Alva, and Master Missions from completing your Maps to have a 100% increased chance to be Alva.
    • Problem: Arctic Armour does not grant enough defensive power to compete with other defensive reservation skills, particularly since the majority of its protection is only granted when the player is standing still.
  • Solution: Substantially increase the amount of damage reduction while stationary provided by Arctic Armour. We will likely continue to explore more efficient defensive options for characters that spend a lot of time standing still in future content updates.
    • Arctic Armour now grants 11–21% less Physical Damage taken from Hits while stationary at gem levels 1–20 (previously 8–13%), and 11–20% less Fire Damage taken from Hits while stationary at gem levels 1–20 (previously 8–12%).
  • Labyrinth Helmet Enchantments that grant increased Arctic Armour Buff Effect can no longer be obtained.
  • Vorana's March: Fixed a bug where summoned Arbalists had an effective accuracy rating that was approximately 70% lower than intended. Summoned Arbalists now deal approximately 50% more Damage. Almost every modifier that can randomly spawn on Vorana's March has either had its values increased or been disabled. Vorana's March now has 4 modifiers that affect Summoned Arbalists (previously 3).
  • Urgent Orders Support now causes Supported Skills to have 50% increased Warcry Speed at gem level 1 (previously 30%), up to 69% at gem level 20 (previously 49%).
    • Jewels that allocated Weave the Arcane now allocate One Step Ahead.
  • The Arcing Blows cluster has been moved to the Shadow area of the tree, above Fatal Toxins.
  • A new cluster has been added where Arcing Blows used to be. It grants Critical Strike Multiplier with Lightning Skills and Critical Strike Chance against Shocked enemies.
  • Chilled ground from the Permafrost Archnemesis modifier now counts as Vortex ground, and can no longer stack with other sources of Vortex ground.
  • Removed the Explosive Archaeology Expedition quest.
  • 3.18.0

    * The Light of Dawn no longer grants "Eldritch Embers found have 10% chance to be Duplicated for each Searing Exarch Altar used in the Area" or "Players take 10% increased Damage for each Searing Exarch Altar used in the Area". * Small Atlas Passive Skills that granted "Influenced Monster Packs in Areas have increased Pack Size" are now found as either "Monster Packs Influenced by The Eater of Worlds in your Maps have increased Pack Size" or "Monster Packs Influenced by The Searing Exarch in your Maps have increased Pack Size".
    * Increased the damage dealt by The Searing Exarch's Flame Wall Skill and their melee Attack. The Searing Exarch's rolling meteors are now considered larger for the purposes of collision detection against enemies (that means you, Exile).
    * The chance for The Eater of Worlds and The Searing Exarch to drop the Forbidden Flesh and Forbidden Flame Unique Items now scales with Map Item Quantity.
    * Shaper or Elder Influence can now be applied to Maps alongside Eater of Worlds or The Searing Exarch Influence, and Conqueror Influence.
    * Anarchy (costs 2 Chaos Orbs): Area is inhabited by 3 additional Rogue Exiles.
    * The Unique Stash Tab search filter can now be used to search the modifiers on stored Unique Items.
    * Fixed a bug where an Orb of Conflict could not be used on Items with Searing Exarch or Eater of Worlds Implicit modifiers if they also had the "Item sells for much more to vendors" Implicit modifier.
    3.17.0
    • After defeating Kitava, you will meet Commander Kirac in the Karui Shores and join his militia to safeguard the Atlas of Worlds. The Envoy will inform you that two Eldritch Horrors, The Searing Exarch and The Eater of Worlds, are approaching and will consume everything.
  • By completing maps affected by their influence, you can hunt down their sub-bosses, The Black Star and The Infinite Hunger, before finally facing The Searing Exarch and The Eater of Worlds themselves. Defeating these formidable foes yields valuable rewards including exclusive new unique items.
  • The Watchstone system has also been removed, and replaced with Voidstones which are obtained by defeating The Uber Elder, The Maven, The Searing Exarch and The Eater of Worlds. These Voidstones raise the tiers of maps on your Atlas and can be augmented by Sextants.
  • The Archnemesis Challenge League

  • Archnemesis is a challenge league that reinvigorates fights with rare monsters. It introduces around 60 new monster mods and allows you to customise your rare boss fights to control your level of risk and reward. These mods can be combined in over 35 recipes to create new, more powerful and rewarding mods. As you play through the league, you'll discover more recipes and learn how to best utilise them to get the most valuable rewards.
  • When you slay regular Rare and Magic monsters in the Archnemesis League, they sometimes drop an itemised version of a new Archnemesis monster modifier. You store these in a dedicated inventory panel so that they don't clutter your regular inventory.
  • Over the course of each area you play, you'll encounter four monsters that are frozen in place, petrified and bound to the Archnemesis statue. When you find such a monster, you can free it by empowering it with an Archnemesis mod. If you're able to successfully defeat the empowered monster, then you will receive the fixed reward that corresponds to that modifier.
  • Archnemesis mods cannot be traded with other players. Your progress is your own.
  • With 3.17.0, there are Standard, Hardcore and Solo Self-Found variations of the Archnemesis challenge league available. They have the same core mechanics and items. You can create private league versions of these leagues, with mods that make the game harder.

  • March of the Legion is a very low-cost method to gain four extra auras on some builds due to the change where Mana is not being required in order to cast an aura. It also took full advantage of the Supreme Ego keystone in a way that goes against the intent of the mechanic and gained a significant amount of power in the process.
Rework the Blessing mechanic of March of the Legion to limit the number of Blessings you can have to one. Change the skill to cost mana instead of temporarily reserving mana. The process of making this change also highlighted a number of problems with other mechanics which has led to a ripple effect of other changes being required.

    Ancestral Warchief
    Vaal Ancestral Warchief
We've changed the way supports which try to do different things to different skill gems at the same time work, by splitting the different effects up. This results in some extra lines on some support gems, but the functionality will remain the same, and will prevent unintuitive behaviour in the future (such as the case in 3.6.0 where Cast while Channelling prevented Arcane Surge from supporting the channelling spell due to it making both the channelling spell and the non-channelling skills it supported count as 'triggered').
    Mirage Archer Support

  • Instant skills can now be used while moving. This includes Warcries which have been made instant via Ascendancies or passive skills, and curses that are supported by Blasphemy. Arc

Arc is a lightning spell that creates a chaining pulse of electricity.

        Skill functions and interactions

        • Chain: Arc deals 15% more damage per remaining chain. Arc gains base chains from gem level, and additional sources of chain such as Chain Support are also taken into account for this bonus.

          • Every time Arc chains, a secondary Arc is created that hits an additional nearby enemy. This secondary Arc cannot chain further.

          • Arc remembers the last two enemies hit by the main Arc, and will not hit these enemies again. This means at least 3 enemies are required before the main Arc can hit the same enemy twice.
