Mechanics

Normal attacks and attack skills derive attack speed and damage from the weapon(s) equipped. This base speed can be increased by attack speed modifiers. In general, weapons with Dexterity requirements (e.g., Bowss and Daggerss) have higher attack speed than weapons with Strength requirements (e.g., staves and maces). Attack speed does not increase the rate that Spells can be cast. Instead, cast speed is used for that purpose.

Similar Mechanics

Action speed increases the number of animations per second that a character can use. This provides a similar effect to increased attack speed.
